What are the advantages of aluminum fencing?
Aluminum fencing is lightweight, rust-resistant, and requires minimal maintenance. It is ideal for both residential and commercial properties.
Will an aluminum fence rust like wrought iron in the salty beach air?
It is completely normal to worry about metal near the ocean, as standard steel or wrought iron will rust almost immediately in this environment. However, aluminum physically cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead of rusting, untreated aluminum can "oxidize" (causing a white, powdery residue). To prevent this, all of our coastal aluminum fences are treated with a premium, marine-grade powder coating. This bakes a hardened, protective shell over the metal, ensuring it withstands salt spray and humidity without corroding.
Is aluminum a good choice if I want to keep my ocean view and breeze?
Absolutely. If your primary goal is to secure your yard for kids or pets without creating a visual or physical barrier, aluminum is arguably your best option. The open-picket designs allow aggressive coastal winds to pass right through, meaning the fence won't act like a sail during a storm. Furthermore, the sleek, narrow profile of the pickets tends to blend into the background, preserving your unobstructed view of the beach.
How do I protect the powder coating from blowing sand and salt buildup?
We want to be straightforward: while powder coating is incredibly tough, allowing heavy salt and abrasive sand to sit on the finish indefinitely can eventually dull the shine or cause micro-pitting. Maintaining it, however, is very easy. We recommend gently rinsing your aluminum fence with a standard garden hose once a month. If you live directly on the water, a quick wash with a soft cloth and mild dish soap a couple of times a year will ensure the powder coating stays vibrant and fully protects the metal underneath.
