However, aluminum physically cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead of rusting, untreated aluminum can "oxidize" (causing a white, powdery residue). This bakes a hardened, protective shell over the metal, ensuring it withstands salt spray and humidity without corroding.

We want to be straightforward: while powder coating is incredibly tough, allowing heavy salt and abrasive sand to sit on the finish indefinitely can eventually dull the shine or cause micro-pitting. Maintaining it, however, is very easy. We recommend gently rinsing your aluminum fence with a standard garden hose once a month. If you live directly on the water, a quick wash with a soft cloth and mild dish soap a couple of times a year will ensure the powder coating stays vibrant and fully protects the metal underneath.
